The Metchosin Fire Department was established in 1984, enacted by Bylaw 269. The Fire hall is located at 4440 Happy Valley Road. The Fire Department currently employs a full time Chief and Maintenance Person along with 38 volunteer firefighters.

The District of Metchosin encompasses 17,396 acres of varying terrain and over 2,000 acres of foreshore.  This very rural community is home to 5,000 residents, four schools, a Federal prison, three military bases, several fuel marinas and a First Nations Reserve.

Provide enhanced fire protection and public safety services that will avoid loss of life and property through fire prevention, emergency preparedness and intervention.

Mandate

Metchosin Fire Department is a direct provider of emergency and non-emergency services to the following customers:

The citizens of the District Municipality of Metchosin.
The businesses and their customers located within Metchosin.
Persons attending and working in Metchosin.
Mutual aid partners: Sooke, Otter Point, East Sooke, Langford & Colwood Fire Departments, RCMP and British Columbia Ambulance Service.               

Services

The Metchosin Fire Department provides fire and rescue services to the citizens of Metchosin through five distinct service areas:

  •           Rescue / Auto Extrication
  •           Medical / First Responder
