- Tuesday, March 23rd - William Head Road (across from Parry)
- Thursday, March 25th - 1125 Matheson Lake Park Road
- Friday, March 26th - Rocky Point and Arden Road LAMB KILLED
- Thursday, April 29th - End of Barrow Road and Kangaroo (in the evening)
- Tuesday, July 27th - 1365 Neild Road - Large cougar - growled at children

Bear Sightings
- Sunday, June 13, 2010 - 3770 Sooke Road - Came within 8 feet of the house
- Monday, June 15, 2010 - 3770 Sooke Road - During the night/early morning, came close to the house again
- Wednesday, June 16, 2010 - 4410 Lindholm - Hung around, checked out BBQ, then headed towards Happy Valley Road
- June 28th, 2010 - 855 Hackamore - Bear visiting several times, becoming very comfortable
- Tuesday, July 6, 2010 - 4410 Lindholm
- Sunday night, July 11, 2010 - 1567 Kangaroo
- Sunday night, July 11, 2010 - 1490 Kangaroo - Took fence and garbage down
- Tuesday night, July 13, 2010 - 5305 La Bonne
- Thursday, July 22, 2010 - 1567 Kangaroo (returning regularly)
- Wednesday, August 11, 2010 - 900 Block Tiswilde - Going through "unsecured" garbage cans
- Thursday, August 12, 2010 - 972 Arden - Came to the gate, saw dog and left

The BC Ministry of Environment's Bear Smart Community Program encourages efforts to reduce bear-human conflicts. Some things you can do to help to bear-proof your home:- keep garbage in the house or shed until pick up day
- don't add meat or cooked food to your compost
- pick ripe fruit and fallen fruit daily
- use birdfeeders only in the winter
- clean your BBQ after each use and store in a secure area
- don't feed pets or store pet foor outdoors

American Bullfrogs
American bullfrogs are an invasive species that have recently been found in the Capital Region. In 2008 and 2009, Metchosin participated in a bullfrog eradication program. In 2008, 39 bullfrogs were removed, mostly from the Lindholm Road and Happy Valley Road area. If you think you may have bullfrogs on or near your property, please contact the Municipal Hall at 250-474-3167.
