The District of Metchosin is reminding residents about Alertable, an emergency and public safety notification platform.
If you are already registered with Alertable, there is no action required. You will continue to receive notifications based on the preferences and locations you have selected.
For those who have not yet registered, we encourage you to download the free Alertable app or create an account online. Alertable provides timely notifications about emergencies and significant public safety events affecting Metchosin, including:
- Emergency incidents
- Evacuation alerts and orders
- Severe weather
- Road closures and transportation disruptions
- Public safety advisories
- Other important community notifications
Alertable allows you to choose how you receive notifications—including through the mobile app, email, text message, or voice call—and to monitor multiple locations that are important to you.
The District will continue to use One Call Now alongside Alertable to ensure residents continue to receive important notifications.
Residents who wish to continue receiving notifications through One Call Now may still request a subscription by emailing the Metchosin Fire Department, with your name/s and contact information. Please note that One Call Now subscriptions are added manually by staff and activation may not occur immediately.
Alertable offers immediate registration and allows users to manage their own contact information, notification methods, and monitored locations at any time without requiring staff assistance.

Receiving timely information during an emergency can help you make informed decisions to protect yourself, your family, and your property. The more residents connected through Alertable, the more effective our emergency communications become.
Please remember that Alertable is one part of your personal emergency preparedness plan. It complements other official sources of emergency information, including local media and emergency services, but should not be relied upon as the sole source of information during an emergency.
